STRUCTURE: The ‘community participation discount’ is an optional, added opportunity to achieve monthly financial savings below agreed upon ‘market rents’ (for renters) and ‘market ownership payments’ (for owners). This participation discount specifically involves a monthly process that includes 2 steps:

1. 1.Host one ‘meal’ per month and attend at least one meal per month that is hosted by another community member. The meals may be breakfast, lunch or dinner. They may occur at the hosts condo, the common house, or any outside location.
   

2. 2.Host one ‘event’ per month and attend at least one event per month that is hosted by another community member. The monthly community meeting is considered an event. Other events are optional and in accordance with the interests and creativity of the host. The events may be focused on learning, service, entertainment, etc.
   

Whether hosting and meal or an event, the host agrees and

understands that as conditions for achieving the monthly

participation discount:

1. a)At least 2 weeks advance notice must be given to each
   

2. community member by the host;
   

2. b)A minimum of 25% of the community members must
   

3. attend the meal and event;
   

3. c)The meal and event must each be at least an hour long.
   

Hosts often combine the meal and event to occur as one following the other.

Hosts may invite community members and guests on a space

available basis. Other community members wanting to bring

guests must obtain approval from the host. The exception

(subject to space availability) is first time guests of community

members who have specific interest in exploring joining our

community. Hosts may charge a meal fee (often $5 to $10 per

person) for each guest.

The monthly community participation discount, for both renters

and owners, is directly connected to successful community

participation as described above. Successfully accomplishing

step 1. (above) results in a savings of 50% of the agreed upon

monthly participation discount. Successfully accomplishing

step 2. (above) results in a savings of the other 50% of the

agreed upon discount.

In addition, Community Members agree to attend at least 6 monthly community meetings a year and to never miss 3 in a row except with community agreement (e.g. a 3 month trip, etc.)

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION is both an intention and a structure (see below). Community is a function of participation. It is always optional and voluntary. It is a co-creative process that may include community members and non-members. The activity options are as broad as the creative minds and hearts of the participants and limited only by existing laws, rules, and agreed upon community values that we all share.
